Intterra today announced that AwareCA is now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Developed by Intterra in partnership with California public safety agencies, AwareCA connects residents and visitors with free and timely emergency information directly from the agencies managing incidents. The app brings incident updates, interactive emergency maps, evacuation warnings and orders, and other critical information together to help people stay informed during emergencies.
“Public safety agencies work tirelessly to deliver accurate information during rapidly evolving incidents,” said Robert Wolf, Chief Executive Officer of Intterra. “Unverified noise and non-authoritative sources are confusing and dangerous, especially during large-scale incidents. AwareCA evolved from a powerfully simple principle: authoritative emergency information should be easier to share, find, and trust.”
As previously announced, CAL FIRE selected Intterra-developed AwareCA in a competitive process to establish a new statewide public safety information platform for California. AwareCA delivers critical emergency information directly from the agencies managing incidents on the ground, helping the public quickly access accurate information. The platform was designed to address a growing need for a trusted source of situational awareness during emergencies, reducing confusion created by fragmented information, unofficial sources, rumors, and misinformation by providing: near real-time incident updates, interactive emergency maps, warning and order evacuation zones, shelter and assistance locations, push notifications and location-aware alerts, and much more.
All features of AwareCA are free for the user, including but not limited to:
1. Adding locations of interest with notification distances
2. Choosing different maps based on needs and preferences
3. Selecting layers to control which hazards get displayed
4. Viewing the map to quickly find incidents and emergency information
5. Following incidents and sharing critical information with contacts
6. Receiving alerts about fast-moving incidents directly from agencies
7. Following response assets such as aircraft
8. Viewing Caltrans traffic cameras and ALERTCalifornia wildfire cameras
